Philosophy and Beliefs

Early childhood should be a time of fun, warmth, security, exploring and discovery.  Preschool children are creative and receptive; our program strives to nurture and encourage these qualities in its students.  I believe in knowing the age group and their developmental attributes.  I believe in kindness, consistency, and patience in teaching preschoolers.

The Learning Curve Preschool has many benefits over larger daycare centers or traditional preschools.  Our classes are limited to 6 children, so the noise and distractions of a larger center are reduced. This low student-teacher ratio provides for more one-on-one time with the children, and allows me to really know and work with each individual. Our classroom, an inviting and stimulating environment, offers the children a mixture of home and school, making it a gentle transition and a gradual introduction to what school is like.

Some of my key program goals include:
  • We have lots of variety.  While we follow the same structure each day, we also change our learning centers and activities on a regular basis.  There is always something new to inspire.
  • Yes, there is a story time.  But reading and telling stories happens all the time!  We read about everything we are interested in, and books and language are included in every learning center.
  • Ready for Elementary School.  My goal is to help each child gain the skills they need to start off their school career.  They should be ready to take care of their personal needs, have some "getting along" skills, and be familiar with the basics of reading, writing and math.  And they should know that school is a fun and safe place to go.
